Halfway-ish

Rolling right along. There are several ways to determine the “halfway” point. Basically, I’m there…HALFWAY!! Yeeee HAAAWW!! My eyes are squarely focused on Oct 3rd, 2010. My orders require me to be in theater 350 days…and October 3rd is Day 350. For those wondering, it almost takes an act of Congress (literally) for me to be required to stay more than 2 weeks beyond that date. Specifically, it takes approval of the Secretary of Defense. So…rest assured, I will be leaving in early October or sooner (also possible; but unlikely).

My heart is quite torn apart with sadness for Mr. Neal, Jay, Charlotte, Jeff, Jennifer and all those sweet grandchildren Mrs. Neal loved so, so much. They’ve each lost a tremendous and irreplaceable presence in their lives. We all have. I pray for healing and peace for the Neal family. God Bless you all.

Cats in Kabul

Welcome to SPRING!! Actually, the last few days here in Kabul make me think we just skipped Spring altogether. It’s been quite hot this week. My “fragile” container has a functioning AC unit that I have been able to test drive the last couple of days.

Signs

Some things just strike me as “funny” and I cannot help but get a kick out of them. When you are thrown in the environment I am currently serving in, something may be funny now; but not so funny under most other circumstances. I am not quite sure what category to put what I am sharing here…however, the bottom line is I find it funny NOW and have since my first day here.
